This dream began with me meeting an adolescent husky. This husky was peculiar in that it was constantly being followed by all of the other animals in the neighborhood. And speaking of neighborhood, this all takes place in the neighborhood and house that I lived in as a child in real life. For some reason, the husky insisted on following me, much in the same way as the other animals followed it. However, I was quite annoyed by this and did not want the dog.

I found myself wondering around the basement of an old house directly behind mine. It was full of old and dusty furniture; a typical basement. In an attempt to get rid of the husky, I ended up locking it in the basement and going back home. When I returned home, I looked back and saw the dog through the basement windows. It was desperately barking and scratching at the windows and was clearly upset at me leaving it.

Feeling guilty, I decided to go back and get the dog. I was met by my father in the back yard and he proceeded to tell me the history of the house. Turns out the house used to be an old hotel. It had fallen into disrepair over the years with much of the paint peeling off, crumbling masonry, and rotting wood. However, it was not abandoned. It was currently home to an elderly, wealthy, and eccentric couple.

I took a long look at the house and proceeded to approach it. The house’s backyard was fenced in, thus, I had to walk around it. I walked around it to my right and passed a series of small trees planted along it. Interestingly, both the house, fence, and trees exist in real life, however, in real life, the house is a more modern construction and was never a hotel.

I knocked on the door and was greeted by a thin, grey, elderly man who approached me on the left. When I walked through the door, I was approached by a thin, grey, elderly woman from my right. Behind them was a wall with a symmetric set of stairs on both the right and left side. I explained to them that my dog had inadvertently snuck into their basement, which was a lie, and I was here to retrieve it. Afterwards, they agreed to let me in.

When I walked around the wall, I found myself in a central atrium with a spiral staircase in front of me. To my left was a large, dark ballroom which I approached but did not dare go in. The elderly couple had left and went upstairs. They asked the housekeeping staff to assist me. Looking around I noticed that parts of the house was in excellent condition while other parts looked just as dilapidated as it's exterior. It was as if the owners purposely avoided the dilapidated parts for some unknown reason.

Here is where the dream gets very vague. I suddenly found myself in a hidden room just past the top of the spiral staircase. I don’t know how I got there, but perhaps in a part of the dream that I forgot, once I retrieved the dog from the basement, it lead me to this room. The room had no carpet and no wallpaper. It was just bare, grey, weather-beaten wood.

On the other side of the room was a large, rectangular hole. The hole was almost as big as the wall itself. Behind it was another hidden room where a little girl was. She explained to me that her parents, the elderly couple, had locked her in that room.

It then occurred to me that I was either talking to a ghost or that the room she was in existed in an earlier timeframe. The latter seems to be more likely because behind her was a large rectangular hole in the wall, which was also almost as big as the wall itself. Through it one could see the top of the entire city as if the house was on top of a large hill overlooking it. The city looked like something from an earlier time; perhaps the 1920s. The sky had this weird color gradient with yellow along the horizon transitioning to bright, yellowish green towards the top.

I suddenly found myself walking the dog out from behind the house to my house. In the time I was in there, it had snowed so much that I was able to walk directly over the top of the backyard fence. I reluctantly brought the husky into my house thinking that my parents did not know about it. Turns out, they knew I had the dog all along. When me and the dog went inside, a bunch of other animals, including squirrels, rabbits, and chipmunks, as well as insects followed the dog inside.

Time past and it was now spring. I was determined to find out more about the old house/hotel, so I went back up to it. I managed to locate it’s cornerstone, which indicated that it was built sometime in the 1920s. I also found an odd sign on the side of the house which seemed to have something to do with the ballroom. For some reason, I became frightened at the sight of it and ran back home. While I was walking through my backyard, I walked through several large flower bushes along a fence beside the driveway. Underneath the carport, my mother, who was sitting in a blue golf cart, was gathering and preparing flowers to be sold as bouquets.

Next thing I know, me and the dog was in the old ballroom of the old house. At some point in the dream, I had gotten the courage to sneak back into the house and I entered the ballroom. The room was a mess with old chairs stacked up in piles, dust everywhere, and rips in the wallpaper and old carpet. It was also very dark. I found myself trapped in this room, crouched in a corner, and absolutely terrified of something that was unseen in the room.

Thats when I woke up.

During this past Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana I shot over 1.5 hours of 360 video footage. For one of the videos, I experimented with projecting the video into what is commonly known as a "tiny planet." It is of my walk down Bourbon Street on Fat Tuesday.

During this year's Carnival and Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans, Louisiana, I shoot over 1 and 1/2 hours of raw 360 footage. This will probably keep me busy for at least a month.

Thus far, the best of this footage was this 360 video of the Krewe of Iris parade as it traveled around Lee Circle.

As you may or may not know, 360 degree videos are all the rage on both Youtube and Facebook. These videos usually require the use of camera arrays in order to record the entire 360 degree field of view at the same time.

The most common used arrays are GoPro arrays, such as this one:

However, as an experiment, I recently shot a 360 degree video using just a single camera; a Canon 5DS R fitted with a Canon 8mm - 15mm fisheye lens.

It is of the streetcars on Canal Street in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This video consist of 4 separate videos shoot one at a time. Obviously it is impossible to synchronize each video considering that they were shoot at different times, but I figure that if one were careful in shooting and editing, one may reduce or even eliminate the random objects appearing and disappearing due to lack of synchronization.

Autodesk 123D Catch is probably one of the coolest, iPhone apps I have ever used, though it is a bit tricky to use and their website is quite confusing to navigate.

Basically, you take a series of photos and those photos are converted to a 3D object, that you can download and edit.

Here is the official website: www.123dapp.com/catch

Their video on Youtube more-or-less sums up the process:

Here is an example that I made: www.123dapp.com/catch/Mike-the…

It is of the statue of Mike the Tiger in front of Tiger Stadium on the campus of Louisiana State University. In order to see it in 3D, you have to click on the link and click on the "3D View" option below the photo.
